Competitors of the Chris D. Horton Legacy Sniper Competition 2024 shoot three types of moving targets in succession alongside their teammates.
The Stand Still stage brought a mix of speed, skill, and quick thinking to the sniper competition! Here’s how it played out:
Each team started with five rounds in hand, not yet loaded into their mags. The catch? They couldn’t start loading until the Dynamic Range X1 Plus started moving away. So, the faster they loaded, the closer the target was when they took their shot. If you were quick, you got an easy shot up close—if not, you were left aiming further downrange!
Once their first shots were off, competitors moved to two steel target setups. First up was the Texas Star, which spins with every hit, making it trickier each time. They started here with pistols, then swapped to their rifles to tackle the Swinger target, which required steady aim and timing.
The Stand Still stage threw plenty of curveballs, testing not only marksmanship but also the ability to handle fast transitions, moving targets and technical difficulties with gear. This was definitely an intense stage and kept everyone on their toes.
