Stage Spotlight: Hit it and Quit it

Competitors of the Chris D. Horton Legacy Sniper Competition 2024 shoot targets that are about 100 to 250m away.

Stage Breakdown: Hit it and Quit it

In the Hit it and Quit it stage, precision and rapid decision-making define success. Competitors enter the shooting box with 30 seconds to prepare and find their positions. As the final seconds tick down, teams focus on scanning their lane, where quick response times are crucial for this dynamic round.

Targets for this stage are white silhouettes set between 100 and 250 meters, challenging shooters with varying distances. But there’s a twist: an orange flag will pop up, signaling which target should be engaged. These signals are smart triggers from the company Trigger Interactive.

Competitors have just five seconds from the flag’s appearance to make the shot—any delay, and the opportunity is gone, marked as a miss.

The flag disappears behind the target upon impact and may reappear at any time, keeping shooters on their toes. Ten exposures occur throughout the round, with two targets active at any given moment, demanding tight coordination between shooter and spotter.

Scoring and Penalties

Precision counts—each missed shot adds a 10-minute penalty. With hits scored by computer, every well-placed round brings teams closer to victory. This stage isn’t just about hitting the target; it’s a test of adaptability, focus, and seamless teamwork.
