A Practical Guide to Using Berms as Attachment Points for Moving Targets
By using the berms as attachment points, you can eliminate the need for end posts when setting up your moving target system.
Why Use Berms Instead of End Posts?
On multi-bay ranges, berms typically separate shooting areas to allow multiple users to train simultaneously. Utilizing berms allows for a simple, efficient setup without needing additional posts, making it ideal for range managers and individual users alike.
Or maybe you just have a wrap-around berm for your personal range. Good for you!
Step-by-Step Setup Using Berms and Earth Anchors
To securely attach your cable, place earth anchors on both sides of the berm. Here’s how it’s done:
Position the Earth Anchors: Place an earth anchor on either side of the berm. The earth anchors we recommend are the same ones included in our Portable End-Post Kits, allowing for sturdy, reliable attachment. But you can also buy your own.
Attach the Cable: Once the earth anchors are secured, run the cable across the bay and attach it directly to each anchor.
Why Earth Anchors? We recommend using earth anchors that are at least 12 inches long and made of durable material (avoid cast aluminum anchors, as they tend to be fragile). Our earth anchors can be screwed directly into the ground with a drill and are practically impossible to pull out once secured.
Why This Approach Works
Using berms as attachment points offers a quick, efficient setup and saves on space and resources needed for end posts. For range managers, it’s an especially convenient solution when accommodating multiple users in adjacent bays.
With the right tools, you can have your Dynamic Range X1 system up and running on any range with berms in no time.
